Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 500g beef, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup thinly sliced onions
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4-5 black peppercorns
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods
  • 2-inch cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves and sliced ginger for garnish
  • Fried onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare Meat Marinade:

  • In a bowl, mix beef cubes with yogurt, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Allow it to marinate for at least 2 hours or overnight for better flavor.

Cook Meat:

  • In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat cooking oil or ghee. Add cumin seeds, black peppercorns, green cardamom pods, cloves, and cinnamon stick.
  • Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
  • Put in ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.
  • Add the marinated beef and cook it until it browns, and the oil begins to separate.
